Sign Up for Your Account

Before you can begin to use MyFood you must create an account. You can create a Lite account for free by pressing the Sign Up button and completing the account information form. As a Lite account user, you will be limited to 7 friends. See the Manage Your Friends and Family section below for more information on the different types of friends you can have. You will also see ads displayed on many of the MyFood web pages.

You can upgrade from a Lite account to a Full account to remove the limit on the number of friends you can have and to remove the ads. See the Gear Icon section below for instructions on how you can upgrade your account.

Verify Your Account

After you create your MyFood account, a verification email will be sent to the email address you used during the registration process. Please look for this email and click the link to verify your account. Until you do this, you will not be able to add any MyFood Friends or MyFood Family. If you do not see the email after a few minutes, please check your spam or junk folders just in case it got put there.

The Menu Bar

The green menu bar near the top of MyFood website is the primary way for users to navigate to different parts of the site. I can contain the following buttons:

Create Your Profile

To create your personal food profile that you can share with other people, follow these steps:

Hint: For Strong Dislikes, choose only items you are likely to be served. In order for MyFood to be useful in many cultures, we have added many food items that may not be common in your culture.

To request that an item be added to MyFood, please send an email to MyFood Item Request. We will review all requests as quickly as possible.

Email Your Profile

If you want to email your food profile to someone, sign into your account and follow these steps:

Manage Your Friends and Family

In order to realize all of the benefits of MyFood, you need to add people to your Friends list. The best way is to send invitations to friends and family who are also users of MyFood so that you see the food profile that they maintain. For the people you know who aren't currently using MyFood (horrors!), you can create a Non-MyFood Friend profile that you manage so that you can still keep track of their requirements.

To Add a Friend
To Add Family

You can create a special Family relationship with people who are members of your “family”. The benefit of doing this is that your MyFood Friends will also be able to see the profiles for the members of your family (for example, your spouse, partner, or children) without having a direct MyFood relationship to that person. As with Friend profiles, you can create Non-MyFood Family members and MyFood Family members.

To add a person as a family member, select the Invite Person as a Family Member checkbox before sending them a MyFood Friend invitation or adding them as a Non-MyFood Friend.

To Email a Non-MyFood Family Profile

If you want to email the food profile for a Non-MyFood Family Member to someone, sign into your account and follow these steps:

Add Notes to a Friend's Profile

If you would like to keep track of something specific for one of your MyFood Friends that they have not added to their profile, you can do this by typing into the Notes field of their profile. Only you will see what you enter into this field.

Multiple Friend Selection

To be able to select multiple friends and then view a summary of their profiles (for example, if you are inviting them all over for dinner), press the Summary button at the bottom right of the navigation pane and then select the friends in the left-hand Friends list that you would like to include in the summary. Press their name again to remove them from the summary.
